About Us
I have an Executive Certificate in Financial Planning from the Georgetown University Center for Continuing and Professional Education. I am a candidate for CFP Board certification. I passed the July 2009 exam to become a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER(tm) professional. I am acquiring the experience necessary to fulfill the 6,000 hour requirement to become a CFP(R) certificant. As of March, 2011, I have approximately 5,300 hours of experience. I expect to complete the experience requirement by the end of 2011.

Background and Work Experience:
Currently, I am a health insurance specialist at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
From 2006 to 2008 I was the Project Director for Consumer Education at Consumers Union.
I developed Internet-based tools to help consumers buy health insurance and to assist parents and students understand student loans and college financing.
From 1998 to 2006 and from 2008 to 2011, I was an antitrust attorney with the Federal Trade Commission. In that role, I participated in the National Association of Insurance Commission's efforts to help consumers understand their health insurance choices. I also authored studies on biologic drugs, generic drugs, pharmacy benefit managers, and electric power providers.
I received my J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law, and a M.P.A. from the Lyndon Baines Johnson School of Public Affairs. I received my B.S. (computer science) and B.B.A. (finance) from Loyola College in Maryland.
I am a member of the District of Columbia and Texas Bar Associations and the Financial Planning Association.
I also am an 8-time finisher of the Ironman World Championship Triathlon in Kona, Hawaii.
